Wilden 1.5-inch PX4 Plastic Pump Kits
All Wilden PX4 plastic pump series repair kits include genuine Wilden parts. Standard repair kits for the 1.5-inch PX4 plastic pump includes the following: diaphragms, valve balls, valve seat o-rings, gaskets, shaft glyd rings and pilot sleeve assembly. Upgraded PX4 plastic pump kits include additional listed parts as shown in the selector menu.
Wilden Pump Elastomer Material Selection Guidance
For rubber diaphragms, choose buna or neoprene: Buna diaphragms are typically used for pumping fuel oils, motor oils, kerosene and most petroleum based products. If the diaphragms are black with a red dot and coded with a 52 then they are buna. Neoprene diaphragms are typically used for most water based applications and non-corrosive/aggressive chemistries. If the diaphragms are black with a green dot and coded with a 51 then the diaphragms are neoprene. For thermoplastic (TPE) diaphragms, choose Wilflex or PTFE: Wilflex diaphragms are typically used for caustic and acidic applications, and are also proven to deliver high performance in a variety of abrasive solutions. If the diaphragms are cream-colored and coded with a 58 then the diaphragms are Wilflex. PTFE diaphragms are the versatile choice that operate in neary every application when the above selections are not compatible. If the diaphragms are white, rigid, have circular lines (like tree rings) and are coded with a 55 then the diaphragms are PTFE. If the pump is PTFE fitted then a PTFE repair kit or upgraded repair kit is recommended.
Valve Seat Material Selection Guidance
At least half of the valve problems processors experience may be due to mis-selection of valves and valve seats. Since valve seats wear out over time, a preventive maintenance program is recommended that plans ahead to replace valve seats every other time the diaphragms and/or valve balls are replaced. People who avoid replacing their valve seats usually find the valve balls stuck in the valve seats, which stops the pump from pumping. Downtime costs far more than new valve seats.
- If the pump is aluminum and PTFE fitted then choose the kits with either the aluminum valve seats or for more durability, upgrade to the stainless steel.
- If the pump is stainless steel and PTFE fitted then select only the stainless steel seats.
- If the pump is polypropylene then choose from the kits with the polypropylene valve seat upgrade or the PVDF valve seat upgrade.
- PVDF offers extra strength, density and hardness for longer life.
- If the pump is PVDF then select the kit with the PVDF valve seat upgrade.
Note: standard repair kits for Wilden plastic pumps do not include valve seats.
How to Know When Pump Shaft or Air Valve are Needed
When a pump diaphragm ruptures, solution travels from the liquid side of the pump through the air section of the pump to where the shaft and air valve assembly are located. This is a fire alarm caliber problem! If the solution comes into contact with the pump shaft then it will likely attack the shaft and begin to cause problems. If the shaft has become subjected to attack and needs to be replaced then it is very likely the air valve needs to be replaced, too. If the pump is already going to be out of service to replace the shaft then go ahead and replace the air valve at the same time, much easier and cheaper than another pump failure.
